when this song came out in 1974 me and my Grammar School friend Jean Bernard (a guy) use to wrestle in his basement when his mother was away working . we did it like Roman Gladiators....Naked..of course things got a little crazy and we both got horny as hell....69 was the general hold position .. but it was a great time after time...i was 13 years old then...so was he...I always wonder what happened to him...the girls in our class all loved him..but Jean had other ideas..i was the proof....and it was a Catholic Grammar school we both attended....Oh well..great school day childhood memories..

It would be pretty cool to be alive during the 60's and 70's... I would want to be a tan skin Communist Hippie with long dark flowing hair, aviators and a leather jacket. I would be from Sevastopol born to Russian and Cossack parents. At the age of 16 I would drop out of school and travel to Hungary after joining the Red Army. After seeing the brutality of the Soviets I would travel on to East Berlin and spend some time there doing drugs and smoking weed. One night me and my friends would sneak past the Berlin wall, where one of them would get shot, but I would safely make it to West Germany. I would spend a few months touring Germany and the Netherlands, working odd jobs until I had enough to travel to San Francisco. In San Fran I would continue being a bad-ass Red Army War hero turned weed smoking hippie fucking all the American girls and attending college after which I would become a bio-chemical engineer and find work in a Power Plant somewhere in North Italy or Spain.

David Bowie has never really been known for making bad ass guitar riffs in my eyes, but this is one bad ass riff.

You see, the problem is Mr. Bowie was just too damn cool. When you have that much cool, it throws the rest of the world off a bit.

Bowie is The greatest artist
Snow Anaya
David Bowie is a True Icon . Like The Beatles ( I know Ringo and Paul are still alive) his music was amazing and revolutionary at the time. His style and music shaped other musicians. The artist now owe a lot to David Bowie like Madonna and Lady Gaga. His music will be around forever even in the future he will be an Icon. So few reach this kind of Icon status. He deserves it . Rest in Peace.
Squiggle Lemon
If diamonds are a girl's best friend and dogs are a man's best friend than that would mean David Bowie is everybody's best friend

David Bowie is the only man I have ever thought was Beautiful. I'm completely straight, but there is something other worldly about him. He demands attention!
Tarantulisimo
David Bowie: vocals, guitar*\nHerbie Flowers: bass\nMike Garson: piano\nAynsley Dunbar: drums\n*Contrary to popular belief, Mick Ronson doesn't play guitar on this one, it's Bowie himself.

The guitar is just legendary on this track.

This song is so god damh...\nBeautiful
The Drunken Coward
I'm kind of sad that I never really knew about Bowie while he was still alive. Which isn't to say I didn't know him before his death, I did and I liked his songs, but I never really listened to him. I enjoyed the few songs I did know, which is to say Space Oddity, Starman, Heroes and Rebel Rebel, but other than that...\nHonestly, the man is a greek statue come to life. I just wish I would've listened to him more in my youth. Which is like 10 years ago.
TheClumsyJedi
I had no idea David Bowie wrote this song. I'd never heard it until it was played on the Carrie Fisher tribute video.

Boy and a Girl were having a conversation. Then they put an end and started flying. Together they could breathe in space and go wherever the wanted. They went on a weird but happy planet full of love and joy, it was like having 3 balls of ice cream every day. And thats it, there is no twist, they were happy until the End.
Victor NJ
David Bowie once wanted to make George Orwell's 1984 a musical. This song was going to be on the soundtrack. Can you imagine how awesome that would have been ?
Victor Pontbriand
Sigh.......gonna get drunk and play Bowie all day long
Walter Pewen
Still cracks me up-I'm 16 in high school. In LA, the glitter rock thing caught on big. Lots of androgyny going on, nobody really knows what it means. Bowie has been OUT as bi for a few years. This song is what it is. Lots of glitter kids, some gay, everyone on drugs, lol. You had to be there. I was and saw it. Now, people hear the song and think \

Decades ago these great artists make masterpieces. These days they have started passing on to a better place ( most likely with better music). 2010 onwards is the decade the music dies DonMclean should think himself lucky.

What made Bowie the special one. Is that he was always one step beyond any of he's contemporaries.

I'm sad and delighted at the same time.. I'm sad because Bowie is dead. But I'm happy because somebody in love with a person who never existed for example in a book or in a movie. But I adore a human who existed. So.. that's even better.

Every time I listen to this astounding tune I’m right back at the family dinner table as a teenager in the early seventies, with this single that I’d just bought blasting away on the family Dansette, and my old man freaking out at the lyrics “Hot tramp, I love you so!” Lol
